Asian Culture Station (ACS) is a gathering hub for citizens to build a sustainable relationship and to enrich mutual understanding between Thailand and other Asian nations including Japan. Focusing on the arts and culture in particular and working with the Chiang Mai Art Conversation, the Japan Foundation Asia Center operates the ACS to provide a space for collaboration as well as Asia-themed art events throughout the year.

March 31, 2019
Since the establishment of ACS on the 26 of August 2016, ACS has held various art events, including, a series of 14 Mini Talks, international symposium, exhibitions and film screenings. On the closing day of ACS, the last event titled "The Ending of Asian Culture Station, but the Conversation continue..." was held and it brought a great opportunity for the people gathered to exchange their opinions about the current situation of Chiang Mai art scene and the future.
March 9, 2019
In the 14th Mini Talk, ACS invited a researcher and also a director of the Buddhist Archives of Photography, Mr. Khamvone Boulyaphonh to give a talk titled "The Buddhist Archive of Photography in Luang Prabang" on 9th of March. In his talk, he introduced various topics, from the establishment of the Buddhist Archive of Photography, its great collections, and his current research.
March 7 – March 24, 2019
ACS held an exhibition titled "The Buddhist Archive of Photography in Luang Prabang", from the 7th to 24th of May. During the exhibition, there were 13 important historical photographs selected to show, including portraits of monks and Buddhism activities in those days.
December 7, 2018 – February 3, 2019
Chiang Mai-based artist, Anusorn Tunyapalit held his solo exhibition, "Reflection of Mae Kha" at ACS between the 7th of December to 3rd of February. His artworks focused on Chiang Mai's historical waterway – Mae Kha canal's transformation captured visitors and produced numerous comments.

Prior to the main exhibition held from 7th of December 2018 by Chiang Mai based artist Anusorn Tunyapalit, titled "Reflection on Mae Kha", ACS held a film-screening event, "Reflection of Mae Kha: Other moons shine full between us" as part of the main exhibition.
August 23, 2018
In the 13th Mini Talk, ACS held a talk session themed on the preservation of history in modern urban society in both Chiang Mai and Yokohama. Guests invited to this session were Tsuneo Noda, an architect specializing in building renovation, and Komson Teeraparbwong, a lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture, Chiang Mai University. They talked about how to negotiate between the old and the new in order to get along together in today's way of life, harmoniously.

In the 12th Mini Talk, ACS invited a guest, Raymond Phathanavirangoon, a film producer and Executive Director of Southeast Asia Fiction Film Lab (SEAFIC) to hold a talk titled "Expanding Asian Cinema Across Territories". In this talk, Raymond Phathanavirangoon shared his perspective on his role as a film producer, especially for international co-production film projects that push the possibility for Asian stories to be improved, and sold to a wider market.
June 23 – June 24, 2018
On the 23rd and 24th of June, a symposium on International Art Biennales/Triennales in the Southeast Asia Context was held in the @Nimman Convention Centre, One Nimman in Chiang Mai. This two-day event offered an opportunity to accumulate knowledge and promote greater understanding of Art Biennales/Triennales for all art-related professionals.

In May, ACS invited the visual artist, Mr. Vuth Lyno and he gave a Mini Talk "Emergence and Transformation: Contemporary Art in Cambodia". In his talk, he introduced the history of Cambodian contemporary art accompanied with case studies and shared his perspective on how Cambodian contemporary art emerged and transformed over the course of history.
December 2, 2017 – February 4, 2018
The Photomutagenesis exhibition is currently being held at the Asian Culture Station and The Laboratory Hotel in Chiang Mai.
This contemporary art exhibition features works by Supapong Laodheerasiri (Chiang Rai), Wimo Ambala Bayang (Yogyakarta), and Chim↑Pom (Tokyo).
The exhibition will run until February 4th, 2018.

Chiang Mai-Mai: At the Threshold of Modernity
Sant Suwatcharapinun is an academic in architecture, space, and contemporary culture. He gave a talk about the transition of cities from the time of the Lanna Kingdom to the modern era from an architectural perspective. Participants explored the city’s modernity, uncovering the power of architecture in Chiang Mai.

Inviting curators from the United Kingdom, the Philippines, Singapore, and Japan, the aim of this symposium was to deepen the understanding of curatorial work in Asia to the general audience, artists, young curators, art managers, and others with careers that are related in the arts.

Mini Talk John Tung—Singapore Art Museum: Beyond a National Platform was held at ACS.
John Tung is currently an assistant curator in charge of Thai art exhibitions at the Singapore Art Museum (SAM). On June 24th, Tung gave an insightful talk about SAM's current engagements, its future aspirations, and his own research and perspectives on contemporary Thai art.
